From Agribusiness to Sustainable Tourism: The Journey of Truong Ba Tung

Meet Truong Ba Tung, also known as Tommy, a young professional making waves in Vietnam's agribusiness and sustainable tourism sectors. Inspired by his family's agricultural background, Tommy developed a deep appreciation for food production and the environment. This passion led him to pursue a bachelor’s degree in agribusiness at Van Hall Larenstein University of Applied Sciences (Netherlands) and IPU New Zealand, equipping him with the knowledge and global perspective to make a meaningful impact.

"My studies broadened my perspective, deepened my appreciation for Vietnam’s rich natural resources, and laid a solid foundation for my career," Tommy shares.

From a young age, Tommy was captivated by nature: how food is grown, the delicate balance of ecosystems, and the hard work behind every meal. His curiosity turned into a career path, leading him to Van Hall Larenstein University, where he studied international agricultural business from 2013 to 2014. His time abroad not only enriched his professional knowledge but also strengthened his intercultural communication skills and global outlook. Experiencing how different regions tackle agricultural challenges reinforced his belief that agriculture is more than just food production: it’s about sustainability, innovation, and securing a better future for generations to come.

Upon returning to Vietnam, Tommy recognized a unique opportunity in agricultural production and sustainable development. Vietnam’s economy is deeply rooted in agriculture, yet the sector faces challenges related to food security, environmental sustainability, and market adaptation. Determined to bridge these gaps, Tommy sought innovative ways to integrate sustainability into agribusiness.

Today, Tommy serves as Business Development Manager at EhumaH, a company that integrates food safety with sustainable tourism. His work focuses on promoting responsible tourism that highlights Vietnam’s agricultural heritage while educating visitors about sustainable food production.

“Food is at the heart of every culture, and tourism provides a powerful platform to share our agricultural stories with the world,” Tommy explains. Through EhumaH, he strives to create immersive nature-based experiences that not only showcase Vietnam’s beauty but also encourage eco-conscious practices and ethical food production.

Tommy’s journey is a testament to the profound impact of agricultural education and sustainable business practices. By blending agribusiness expertise with tourism, he is shaping a future where food safety, environmental responsibility, and economic growth go hand in hand.
