Virtual Southeast Asia Career Fair 2021:
Connecting International Minds in Southeast Asia
The Netherlands Education Support Offices (Neso) in Indonesia and Vietnam, jointly organised the Virtual Southeast Asia Career Fair 2021, supported by the Embassy of the Kingdom of Netherlands and the ASEAN Dutch Chamber Network (ADCN). This event aims to connect companies and job seekers from all over Southeast Asia. Twelve companies and more than1400 jobs seekers from Southeast Asian countries participated in this event, with over 420 people have applied for job vacancies in the VSEACF platform.
The VSEACF 2021 officially kicked off with opening remarks from Ms Ardi Stoios-Braken, Deputy Head of Mission of the Dutch Embassy in Indonesia, and Mr Guido van Rooy, Executive Director of the Dutch Business Association Vietnam & Rotating Chair of the ADCN, who expressed their support in this initiative. Their support goes beyond the traditional career format, enabling companies and job seekers in the Southeast Asia to connect online. Moreover, Mr Peter van Tuijl, Director of Nuffic Neso Indonesia and Ms Vi Nguyen, Chief Representative Officer of Nuffic Neso Vietnam, representing the organizing team of VSEACF extended their warm welcome to participating companies and job seekers.
The event opened with a panel discussion on “The Future of Economic Growth in Southeast Asia: Preparing ASEAN Youth for a Competitive Job Market” joined by Ralph Go, Corporate Recruitment Lead of Gojek, Nandia Karina, Founder & CEO of Virtue Consulting Partners, and Tam Tran, Clients and Markets Head of KPMG Vietnam. The panels shared their insights and experiences on how the employment landscape in Southeast Asia region has changed over the years and what skills needed by job seekers in the region to fit and thrive in a very competitive job market.
In the afternoon, various recruitment activities took place, such as Round Tables, one-on-one matchmaking sessions and workshops focusing on personal branding. DataHouse Asia, led by Huy Nguyen, provided an overview of the company and current job opportunities available in several countries.
Edwin J. Tanga from ejt & Associates delivered a Personal Branding workshop to help job seekers to establish a personal brand that remains competitive, productive, and relevant. In addition, Indy Hardono, Scholarship Team Coordinator of Neso Indonesia, delivered a workshop on “Interview tips for Young Professional”.
